Hiking: Whether just walking through the historic town of La Porte, or taking your adventures deep into the woods, your walk or hike will be scenic and memorable. The La Porte area hosts abundant hiking trails filled with streams, historic ghost towns, abandoned mines and some of the most scenic views available in the Sierras.

Mountain Biking: Numerous bike trails are available for beginning to advanced riders. Come explore the Lost Sierras on the beautiful biking trails.

Water Sports & Fishing: Little Grass Valley Reservoir, located just three miles from the Union Hotel, is three times the size of Lake Donner, and is available for fishing, water skiing, sailing, or any other water sport.  And it is well stocked with Rainbow and Brown Trout. If fishing is your sport, the many streams in the area Are also perfect for catching your fill.

Golf: The drive from the Union Hotel to golf in Plumas County is not for the faint of heart. The road to Quincy and Graeagle, where some great golf courses reside, takes you up to about 7000 feet, and hosts spectacular views of the Sierras but can take up to 90 minutes during the summer.
